Substance Abuse Technician (night shift) – CDCA
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The CDCA acts as a representative of treatment staff and observes all patient activity and maintains a visible presence of the clients at the Detox & Residential center. The CDCA will also circulate throughout the facility and alert to fire and safety hazards. The CDCA is also at times responsible for driving the company vehicle to ensure clients arrive safely and on time for scheduled Admissions and Discharges daily.
- Understands and maintains confidentiality of client information and records.
- Documents client information in EMR
- Ensures clients attend scheduled activities and required Groups.
- Provides appropriate help during emergency situations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Builds positive relationships with staff.
- Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment.
- Always follows Infection Control Guidelines at all times.
- Provides a safe, therapeutic environment for staff and clients.
- Provides a daily report to management.
- Facilitates client’s rules and responsibilities. Reports noncompliance to management.
- Collects urine samples from clients
- Transports clients as necessary
- Performs Searches and/or Random Searches when drug activity/suspicion is reported
- Reports to Director of Operations/ Tech Supervisor
- Helps clean and maintain facility cleanliness.
- Ability to be on feet throughout assigned shift
- Assists Management, Clinical and Nursing with client’s day to day operations as needed
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours when needed
- At least one year of experience in a mental/behavioral health setting preferred
- An understanding of the 12-step recovery process preferred
Job Requirements
Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or Behavioral Health field is a plus.
- Demonstration of group facilitation skills, knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and treatments.
- Crisis intervention skills. CPI training/certification preferred, but will train.
Certifications:
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training and Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire or within two weeks of hire.
- CDCA Certification Required (if not currently then obtain CDCA within 90 days of start date)
Work Experience:
- At least one year of experience in a mental/behavioral health setting preferred
