For some positions, clinical supervision related to licensure requirements may be provided by the appropriately licensed agency staff at no cost to the employee.
This position may be filled as a Probational Appointment . Applicants may be asked to serve a probationary period that may be anywhere from 6 months to 24 months.
Preference may be given to individuals who have at least 6 months of substance abuse treatment experience or have passed the ADC, AADC, or EMAC exam at the time of appointment.
Salary may be negotiable depending on the chosen applicant’s level of experience. Below is the pay range for the position:

The master’s degree in social work must be from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, 1701 Duke Street, Suite 200, Alexandria, VA 22314.
Function of Work:
To serve as a licensed Clinical Social Worker and to provide independent assessment, implementation as case manager of treatment plans, and independent counseling with a minimum of supervision with a concentration on clients or offenders with specialized/atypical cases.
Level of Work:
Advanced.
Supervision Received:
Broad review from a higher-level social worker, facility manager, or administrator.
Supervision Exercised:
May provide functional supervision over lower-level social workers and professionals in other disciplines.

Department of Health and Hospitals; LSU-Health Sciences Centers, Acute Care Hospitals, Medical Schools; Veterans Affairs; Department of Corrections.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from the Social Worker 3 by the presence of licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
Differs from the Social Worker 5-A by the absence of responsibility of serving as sole social worker of a facility having full managerial responsibility over a facility’s social services program.
Differs from the Social Worker 5-B by the absence of direct supervisory responsibilities.
This clinician position provides clinical assessment and treatment of clients with various mental health diagnoses, substance use disorders, medication assisted treatment, and high-risk patients in crisis. The clinician completes comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, screenings, treatment via individual/family/group therapy, as well as discharge plans for patients, and families as needed. The clinician works on an interdisciplinary treatment team in order to provide thorough and comprehensive care, as well as continuity of care, and will prepare and send progress reports to the appropriate social service agencies and referral sources as required. The clinician may also assist in the acquisition of appropriate resources as needed. The clinician may also collect routine urine drug samples for labs and rapid assessment if required.
Additionally, the clinician attends annual and PRN trainings and webinars to improve competency in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. The clinician also works collaboratively with Peer Support Specialists, Case Management, and Care Coordination for patients with mental health and substance use disorder that may require additional support and coordination of services.
