Job Overview
Screens, tracks and monitors offenders with mental health services needs in intake, general population, and special housing.
Involved in the development, implementation and monitoring of mental health services, policies and programs at the facility.
May be involved with special units or programs.
Serves as a consultant to Administration, Security, Treatment and Community Corrections staff.
Provides in-service training.
Training and experience in the treatment of mental health disorders.
Relevant professional experience under supervision to include demonstrated skills in psychological assessment including diagnostic interviewing, intelligence and personality testing and interpretation and report writing.
Demonstrated ability to develop intervention and treatment plans.
Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group counseling or therapy.
Considerable working knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic nomenclature, psychological theory and ethical practices.
Demonstrated ability to provide training.
Ability to communicate effectively in orally and in writing.
Experience providing mental health services in a correctional, forensic, outpatient or other settings preferred.
Doctorate degree in Psychology (clinical, counseling, clinical social work) from an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with advanced coursework in mental health is preferred.
The investigation may include: fingerprint checks (State Police, FBI); local agency checks; employment verification; verification of education (relevant to employment); credit checks; and other checks requested by the hiring authority.
