Job Overview
The Miriam Learning Center is a program designed for students ages 2 through 25 who need educational and/or social emotional support. Special education services are provided within schools or daycare centers, the student’s home, and our clinic.
POSITION: PART-TIME LICENSED CLINICAL SOCIAL WORKER or PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR, DAY-TIME HOURS
ANTICIPATED START DATE AUGUST 2022
STATUS: PART-TIME/PRN
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree from accredited school
- Licensed or provisionally licensed in the state of Missouri (LCSW, LMSW, LPC, PLPC)
- One year of experience assessing and treating the psychological and educational needs of children, preferably in a school setting
- Familiarity and comfort with treating children age 2 to 18.
- Knowledge of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Knowledge of the DSM 5 and ability to diagnose (if fully licensed)
- Trauma informed
- Own transportation to multiple sites
REPORTS TO: Behavioral Health Coordinator, Miriam Learning Center
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker/ Counselor evaluates the psycho-social needs of children and adolescents and makes appropriate recommendations to improve functioning at school, home, and in the community. He/she provides individual, group and/or family counseling. Settings for work duties include on-site at the Learning Center, community schools and day care centers, and in-home counseling opportunities as they arise.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To provide a comprehensive and professional assessment of each child’s psycho-social issues.
- To render a DSM 5 diagnosis, when appropriate.
- To make appropriate recommendations based upon assessment results.
- To provide individual, group and/or family counseling using a CBT model.
- To complete assessment reports in a professional and timely manner.
- To determine an appropriate treatment pathway for a child/family.
- To maintain contact with other professionals at the Center, in the school, and with the family to ensure coordinated treatment efforts.
- To submit notes and billing in a timely manner.
- To refer the child and/or family for community services as needed.
- Any other duties as specified by the supervisor.
