Overview
Our Mental Health Technician (ARDOC) (MHT) provides mental health services to patients within the facility under the direction and supervision of the Clinical Supervisor. Will also provide mental health consultation and training to facility personnel.
Additional Details
We’re looking for a bachelor degreed mental health tech to work Sunday-Thursday during the day shift. This role will include a lot of stats/data collection, clerical work, records requests and assisting the psychiatrist with telehealth encounters.
Qualifications
Education
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree in mental health/social science field from an accredited college or university. (Professional experience, trainings and applicable certifications may be considered in lieu of educational requirements on a case by case basis.)
Experience
- Coursework and professional experience that indicates knowledge of working in a correctional setting, mental health interventions, and identification of mental health issues, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
- Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract.
Responsibilities
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide mental health services under the direction of a Clinical Supervisor in accordance with the policies and procedures of The Company, the Facility, and in accordance with the ethics and standards of relevant professional organizations (e.g., NCCHC, NASW, APA) and state guidelines regarding scope of services of bachelor’s prepared professionals.
- Conduct regular mental health checks and rounds with patients as required.
- Provide psycho-social-educational programming and activities for groups and individuals with the goal of improving the social, cognitive, problem-solving, and daily living skills of incarcerated patients
- Triage mental health concerns of incarcerated patients and inform appropriate clinical staff of any issue that may require immediate intervention.
- Provide consultation services as assigned.
- Participate in release continuity of care planning for patients who are set to be discharged from the Facility.
- Train staff in human behavior and/or mental health issues in accordance with the facility’s training program and as assigned by the Program Manager
- Maintain the confidentiality of incarcerated patient information in accordance with State law, The Company Policy, the Facility policy and the standards of the National Commission on Correctional Health Care and the American Correctional Association.
- Interrelate and work effectively with patients, facility staff and outside support agencies as delegated by Program Manager.
- Document all services provided in the patient’s health record.
- Participate in staff meetings and in-service training programs.
- Notify Psychologist/Licensed MHP of personal need for additional clinical supervision, overall problems in the delivery of clinical services, and/or proposals to improve clinical skills.
- Maintain accountability for services provided through timely and accurate recording of activities on the provider record and through participation in the Quality Improvement program.
- Comply with employee standards of the Facility. Compliance includes, but is not limited to, the maintenance of a professional working environment and personal appearance consistent with professional responsibilities, development of harmonious working relationships, and timely notification of supervisory personnel of absences from institution
- Perform other duties as assigned.
