JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Housing Authority Director,

the Mental Health Case Provider will assess and provide individual and group mental

health services to native community members. The Provider must have the ability to

effectively interact with individuals in a social service setting. The position requires

effective coordination with other organizations and the proven ability to work within

groups. Knowledge of the Lummi Tribal community and its familial relationships is

highly desirable. This position requires the provider to be flexible with work hours based

on the services needed within the Housing Communities.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, and other related duties as assigned.

1. Provide primary support to the Lummi Nation Housing Authority as a Mental

Health Case Provider.

2. Provide assessments and create treatment plans that enhance the strengths of an

individual.

3. Provide individual and group counseling services for Lummi Nation individuals

and families using strength-based and solution-focused techniques to remove

barriers and to address behavioral and/or emotional problems.

4. Develop an appropriate and professional relationship with relatives of the tenant

and involve them in the treatment of their relatives when necessary.

5. Develop an appropriate and professional relationship with other counselors, social

workers, case managers and consultants when necessary.

6. Participate in staff meetings, consultations, supervision, and professional training

sessions as required by the Housing Director.

7. Assist with providing training to existing advocates, and counselors of LNHA.

8. Counsel and assist tenants in setting goals that will help them to live self-

sufficiently and meet the challenges of independent living.

9. Participate and help develop weekly/monthly meetings for various Housing

Community areas such as Mackenzie, Kwina Village, Sche’lang’en Village and

Sche’lang’en Crossroads Village.

10. Provide interventions based upon an individual’s treatment plan which may

encompass either individual group, couple, family therapy, or outdoor recreational

therapy.

11. Provide appropriate referral assistance to individuals whose needs are beyond the

scope of practice.

12. Provide consultation with an individual’s family indicated on a ROI, and staff

members to coordinate services and address specific needs.

13. Provide service that are accordance with HIPPA, ethical practices consistent with

the Washington State, and the laws of the Lummi Nation.

14. Provide and maintain clinical records in an electronic form which shall be stored

in a confidential manner for safe keeping.

15. Work collaboratively with other program clinicians to integrate therapeutic

enhancements into the follow-up work with tenants and families.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage & Family Therapy from an accredited college or university.

· 3 years of experience working with children and youth, and families in either a

work or internship setting.

· Washington State Licensure as a Mental Health Provider or equivalent.

· Must possess a valid Washington State Driver’s license and meet eligibility requirements for tribal insurance

· Lummi/Native American/Veteran preference policy applies.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

· Ability to learn on the job and willing to participate in relevant job training

opportunities as identified.

· Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.

· Knowledgeable in mental health performance standards.

· Knowledgeable in addictions treatment and co-occurring problems.

· Knowledge of local resources available to youth, adult, and families

· Good communication and listening skills.

· Knowledge of treatment-integrated understanding of historical trauma and Native

cultural values.

· Ability to discuss sexual issues in mixed gender groups.

· Knowledge about HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Must pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol test to be eligible for and maintain employment, as required by the LIBC Drug & Alcohol Free Workplace Policy.

· This position requires regular contact with or Control over Indian Children and is therefore subject to an extensive Criminal Background Check and CAMIS Check.

· Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including two (2) doses of a 2-dose series, or one (1) dose of a 1-dose series, plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to the start date.
