DESCRIPTION
Under direction of the Program Director, the Psychologist will serve as a primary therapist for the UCSD Eating Disorders Program. Responsibilities include: oversee day to day program operations, formulate treatment plans; utilize a wide range of therapeutic techniques to treat patients with eating disorder illness; organize, structure, and conduct group therapy sessions; develop treatment plans for eating disorder patients; serve as resource persons for many members of the treatment team; train and provide consultation to related staff professionals and paraprofessionals in clinical psychology; and prepare clinical reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A Ph.D. degree in Clinical Psychology and one (1) year of post-doctoral experience in clinical psychology and current valid license to practice Psychology in California.
- Thorough knowledge and experience of specialized treatments for eating disorders.
- Proven experience in providing therapy to individuals at several levels of care, including residential/inpatient, day treatment, outpatient, and IOP.
- Experience in developing treatment plans for eating disorder patients, administering and interpreting psychological tests related to eating disorders.
- In-depth knowledge and proven skill in provision of individual, group, and family psychotherapy.
- Knowledge and skill in problem-focused psychotherapeutic interventions and a thorough working knowledge of DSM-IV categories and differential diagnosis.
- Demonstrated experience in working with insurance companies to obtain treatment authorization, etc.
- Excellent and appropriate interpersonal skills including listening and interpretive skills, in dealing with patients, families, caregivers, multidisciplinary team members and community professionals.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Capacity to develop and implement specialized programs.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
