Job Overview
This position is responsible for providing mental health consultation and assessment services for children birth to five including:
- Assessment of children referred by childcare centers and provision of child care consultation to early childhood classroom teachers. This program is funded through Smart Start grants.
- Provide consultation on three levels (specific child, classroom, and center-based) to assess and address needs of identified children; to help identify attitudes, beliefs, practices and conditions that may be undermining quality relationships between teachers and children; and to help make changes to child care practices and/or policies to the benefit of all of the children and adults in the setting.
- This position will provide information and demonstration to parents and caregivers, as well as child care providers of the children served in order to promote competence in knowledge of child development and child guidance.
- Presentations about various aspects of child development and social emotional topics to groups of parents and caregivers, as well as child care providers.
This is a 40-hour week position. The hours may vary in order to meet the program needs and needs of clients.
