Do you have a keen professional interest in addiction medicine and substance use treatment? California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) is seeking California-licensed clinical social workers to join our Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program (ISUDT). This newly-created statewide program is designed to provide integrated, specialized care to patients with a history of substance use who require additional medical assistance. ISUDT staff are committed to providing optimal care, promoting patients’ successful reintegration into society, and reducing recidivism.

We currently have opportunities at Calipatria State Prison, located just north of Imperial County’s desert community of El Centro. With access to urban areas, natural attractions, and recreational activities, this is the ideal place to enjoy the work-life balance you’ll find with CCHCS.

Within this program and under the general direction of the Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker I, you will:

  • Provide screening and assessment for substance use disorders to determine treatment needs and level of care
  • Develop comprehensive treatment plans
  • Coordinate with the Primary Care Team to provide quality care
  • Provide short-term counseling intervention to address client needs surrounding substance use disorders

  • Knowledgeable in substance use disorder assessment and treatment
  • Skilled in the area of motivational interviewing
  • Knowledgeable in the area of trauma-informed care

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) issued an Order on August 19, 2021 which requires workers working in a healthcare setting at all local and state correctional facilities and detention centers be vaccinated against COVID-19. Therefore, all workers identified under the CDPH Order are required to either be vaccinated or submit a medical or religious accommodation. While working through either of these interactive processes, staff shall wear an N95 mask and test twice-weekly (with at least 72 hours between each test) until they comply with the August 19, 2021 CDPH Order.
In addition, beginning on December 27, 2021, booster-eligible workers who have not yet received their booster dose shall undergo twice-weekly COVID-19 testing (with at least 72 hours between each test), until they receive a booster. Fully-vaccinated workers who are not yet eligible for a booster are only required to test once they become eligible for a booster but remain unboosted.
