Job Overview
Job Summary:
The Child Life Specialist, in collaboration with members of the health care team, plans, implements, and evaluates a therapeutic intervention/activities program in the playroom and at bedside, which is appropriate to the developmental, emotional, educational and recreational needs of patients (infants, children, adolescents and young adults) and their families. Additionally, the CLS prepares patients for hospital experiences and provides support as appropriate. The CLS supports the family system and facilitates coping.
Job Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Child Life or related field required, Master’s degree preferred.
Experience: To have completed clinical internship (minimum of 480 hrs) in a pediatric hospital setting.
License/Certification: Child Life Professional Certification required within first year
Physical Requirements:
Sit: Up to 6 hours/day
Stand/Walk: Up to 6 hours
Bend/Stoop: Up to 3 hours
Reach: Up to 6 hours
Rep Use of UE: Up to 6 hours
Lift/Push/Pull: 25 lbs, over 25# with assistance or equipment
