Job Description:
As a Behavior Health Specialist (BHS) you provide1:1 that are designed to assist individuals with a behavioral health diagnosis (i.e., SUD or mental health) in acquiring, retaining and improving skills such as communication, self-help, domestic, self-care, socialization, fine and gross motor skills, mobility, personal adjustment, relationship development, use of community resources and adaptive skills necessary to reside successfully in home and community-based settings.
You will assist clients that want to start or return to school or formal training with a goal of achieving skills necessary to obtain employment. may consist of general adult educational services such as applying for and attending community college, university, or other college-level courses. Services may also include classes, vocational training, and tutoring to receive a Test Assessing Secondary Completion (TASC) diploma, as well as support to the individual to participate in an apprenticeship program.
Teach concepts such as: work compliance, attendance, task completion, problem solving, and safety, and, if applicable, teach individuals how to identify obstacles to employment, and obtain paperwork necessary for employment applications. Assist the individual to locate a job or develop a job on behalf of the individual via the use of Individualized Placement and Support services that include rapid job search including acquisition of hard and soft skills to retain employment, training and systematic instruction, as well as providing support for the job application process such as resume writing, interviewing and application submission.
