Job Overview
Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital’s (NVRH) Emergency Department is seeking to add a Behavioral Health Specialist to implement SBIRT programming. SBIRT is Screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment in the hospital setting. It is a comprehensive, integrated, public health approach to identify patients with substance use disorders and those at risk of developing them with the goal of reducing and preventing related health consequences, disease, accidents and injuries. The Behavioral Health Specialist provides screening, assessment, and short term counseling for mental health conditions and substance use issues in the emergency department setting and other settings as deemed appropriate. The right candidate will have the ability to make prompt clinical assessments utilizing evidence based tools and provide appropriate interventions and short term solution based therapy. The Behavioral Health Specialist facilitates referrals to mental health and substance use service providers in the community.
