Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Practitioner provides care to patients experiencing eating disorders, mental illness and/or substance use disorders and their families using de-escalation skills, group dynamics and facilitation. This includes assisting with crisis management, therapeutic programming and milieu management as member of the care team. This role is instrumental in addressing emergent and urgent issues as needed.
Education/Experience:
Must meet the criteria for “Behavioral Health Practitioner” in at least one of the following ways:
o Holds a bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university and has at least 2,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness; or, holds a bachelor’s degree and has at least 6,000 hours of supervised experience in the delivery of services to persons with mental illness, preferably in eating disorders; or
o Is a graduate student in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields and is formally assigned by an accredited college or university to an agency or facility for clinical training; or
o Holds a master’s or other graduate degree in one of the behavioral sciences or related fields from an accredited college or university
Strong human relations, leadership and verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively problem solve and make sound decisions.
Demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.
Must have a valid driver’s license and meet the insurability requirements relating to Park Nicollet’s motor vehicle violation criteria.
Special Knowledge/Skills/Certifications/Licenses:
This position provides psychotherapy to patients and requires Park Nicollet to comply with the Minnesota Statute 148A.

This specific position will be a combination of roles in our PHP program as well as the MHP in charge of our evening IOP program.
