Job Overview
The Associate Therapist in the Assessment and Intake Department is responsible for triaging crisis phone calls, assessing and consulting with the on-call physician to determine the level of care, and coordinating admission to an appropriate level of care.

Responsibilities:
- Complete admissions based diagnostic assessments to develop provisional diagnoses with clinical oversight of a licensed supervisor
- Facilitate admission to an appropriate level of care including the inpatient unit, residential care, partial hospital programming, or intensive outpatient programming
- Coordinate direct admissions to the inpatient unit with referring professionals from other hospitals or within the community
- Provides effective customer relations pursuant to the policies of PrairieCare
- Be oriented and educated in gender, cultural differences, and age-appropriate care for the assigned department.
- Able to provide back-up for therapists and perform other clinical duties within scope, as needed
Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or a closely-related therapeutic field required
- Licensed or currently pursuing licensure in state of Minnesota and receiving clinical supervision toward such
- Two years of experience in behavior healthcare preferred
- Knowledge of DSM-5 criteria and willingness to continue refining diagnostic skills within an assessment arena
- Interviewing and assessment skills
- Culturally responsive and inclusive lens, oriented and educated in diverse care factors such as gender identity, culture, race, and age
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively within multidisciplinary teams both within PrairieCare as well as externally within other organizations with collaboration and patient experience at the center
- Proficient computer skills using Microsoft Office products including Word and Outlook
- Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate in written and verbal form
- Ability to smoothly and rapidly shift between dissimilar tasks
- Ability to react quickly and calmly as part of a team to handle volatile and potentially emergency situations
- Ability to make effective decisions while in stressful situations and circumstances
- After training, ability to manage disruptive and explosive patients
