Job Overview
The University of Arizona, College of Medicine –Phoenix (COM-P) is seeking a full time Program Coordinator to provide daily support in planning and executing the courses of Community Clinical Experience (CCE) and Longitudinal Patient Care (LPC). As a Program Coordinator (Academic Programs Officer II), you will assist the CCE course which assigns each student a physician preceptor with whom they see patients with in a clinical setting. The principal mission of CCE is to apply curricular concepts and skills learned through Blocks and Doctoring to direct patient care. One of your key responsibilities will be matching students with their preceptors for this course. The students will then be able to do “hands-on” patient care, the essence of being a physician. You will also spearhead mentor recruitment for the LPC course. LPC is designed to prepare students for inter-professional patient centered care with the goal of improved healthcare quality and collaboration. This course allows students to experience the changing healthcare needs over time with a community health mentor focused on a chronic medical condition in the context of the person’s community, socioeconomic situation, and family.
Our clinical Courses provide our medical students with innovative and clinically focused observational learning experiences in hospital, clinic and laboratory settings, which augment and enforce learning obtained in the preceding basic science block. The Program Coordinator has a high impact on the students’ experience with two very essential elements to their education as physicians. These courses go beyond the book knowledge and allow practical application of what the students have been taught. Many students apply to COM-P because of the unique courses, like CCE and LPC, and other learning opportunities that are offered here at COM-P.
This position offers a flexible hybrid work schedule. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative and supportive team and environment that fosters professional growth.
Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; state and optional retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
